Kensuke Shimizu
Born in Japan in 1974. He lived in Turku, Finland from 2002 to 2021. Currently he lives in Tokyo, Japan. He has previously also lived in London and Minneapolis.
Kensuke Shimizu likes to bring literature (story) into his art. Also, humour and movement are important in his art. Major motifs in his artworks are women, bicycles, shoes and shoelaces, hats, words, dreams, thoughts, music, and so on.
Kensuke Shimizu makes artworks of paintings, drawings (on paper, etc), visual poems, literature (short stories and poems), music (composition of his music, performances), video art, and so on.

Appearance in the event about Finland, in Tokyo.
As an event, Kensuke Shimizu talked about Finland with Mitsuko Miyakawa (Chapa) at a bar "Kagurazaka lien" in Tokyo. This was held as a "vol.1" of a series of the events called "Chapa to yukaina nakamatachi" (meaning, "Chapa and her pleasant friends").

With the piano Mikiko Ushijima played, Kensuke did a poetry reading of his poems, "Joen rannalla", "Thoughts in March" (part of the poem "Mr.G and Mr.J"), "Meeting" (part of the poem "Mr.G and Mr.J"), and “ICE CREAM LOVER”.
In addition to this, Kensuke performed “Travel Piano Version”, which he had composed, on the piano.

１９７４年、東京生まれ。２００２年から２０２１年まで、フィンランドのトゥルクに住む。その他、ロンドン、ミネアポリスに住んだ経験もある。現在は、東京に在住。
清水研介は文学（お話）の要素をアートに取り入れている。また、ユーモアや動きも、作品での表現で大事にしている。作品に現れる主なモチーフは、女性、自転車、靴や靴紐、帽子、言葉、夢、思考、音楽、文字など。
清水研介は、絵画、ドローイング（紙の上にペンで描くなど）、ビジュアル詩、文学作品（短編や詩）、音楽作品（作曲）、動画、などのアートを制作している。

フィンランドのトゥルク大学(University of Turku)の、
Department of Finnish and General Linguisticsという学科が出版した本「Suunnaksi suomen kieli」の表紙の絵として、清水研介の絵「マドモアゼル踊っている、考えている」
(Mademoiselle Dancing Thinking)が使われました。
元の絵は、さまざまな色が使われていますが、本の表紙では、一色(赤系のオレンジ)の画像として、使われています。
